The caves were reworked under the patronage of ‘Chandragupta II’ and ‘Kumargupta’ and are notable for its ancient sculpture of Vishnu, in his incarnation as the boar-headed Varaha, rescuing the earth as described in mythology. Udayagiri has a series of rock-shelters, ruined buildings, inscriptions, water systems, fortifications and habitation mounds. After this the Tour will proceed towards Bhopal (58 km.).
